I am Turhan "Randy" Thomas,

Deputy 147 on the Sevier County Tennessee

Sheriff's Department Deputy roster.

Sevier county holds three major cities, Sevierville,

Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. It is approximately

20 miles from Knoxville. Sevier County houses a large

tourism industry with Dollywood and a tremendous

amount of family oriented tourist attractions and

restaurants. I have lived here most of my

life "originally from Brooklyn N.Y."

I  was placed on the reserve officer roster at the Sevier

County Sheriff's Department in April 1989. In October

of 1989 i was hired full time, jailer/patrolman

(full time jail). On August 16th of 1992, I was promoted

to Corrections Sergeant and worked at that position

until promoted to patrol on August 11, 1995.

I have become partial to working within the

departments community policing policy, therefore

working in the same duty zone area whenever

i am on patrol. It allows you to know where some

potential problems may arise, allows you to

become more aquainted with the persons that live

and work within your zone, and to know alot of the

habits of the business' and their owners within it.

I enjoy spending some of my time browsing the internet

and have found an enourmous amount of links to

research tools and information sources on-line, that

are of assistance to me both on the job and at home.
